Registration is now open for Summer Rowing
June 18 – August 10
The summer program is organized and run by Maritime Rowing Club at the boathouse.  All registration and communication is through the boathouse.  You can stop in the boathouse for applicatons and forms or you can download them on the Maritime Rowing Club website:
 http://maritimerowing.net/rowing-programs/summer-camps-2012/

In the summer their are 2 programs:
the recreational program (which does not compete and only meets 1x/day)
or
the competitive program in which you will practice 2x/day and  compete at
Club Nationals (July 10-15 Cherrry Hill, NJ)
and/or
Royal Canandian Henley (Aug 7-12 St. Catherine's Ontario)

It is your choice if you want to go to one or both regattas

Junior recreational program run weekly, with a choice of one of three daily sessions:

  • 9-11 am
  • 11-1 pm
  • 3-5 pm

If you are interested in the recreational camp, the cost for the camp is $200 for one week, $380 for two weeks, or $1,100 for the entire 8 week program. You should pick one of the three daily time slots for your camp dates. Sign up for one week, two weeks, three weeks — or for a whole summer of rowing!

We also offer a competitive summer program for our junior rowers. Our internationally known coaching staff offers an opportunity for all levels to become competitive and develop their potential with solid rowing skills and team fundamentals.

Our competitive program is $1,550 for the 8 week program and rows two sessions daily (9-11am, and 3-5pm) Eligibility is determined through our head coach, so if you are interested, you can contact the boathouse and speak directly to Yan or Olga Vengerovskiy @ 203-854-5492.

Summer camps covers water safety, rowing basics, strength training and rower stretching. You will also learn the fundamentals of handling a racing shell from the simple task of getting it into the water, to making adjustments to the equipment for proper rowing efficiency.

Rowers are required to wear spandex shorts, close fitting shirts, and sneakers. A swim test is required of all new rowers and is given at the start of each season.

OTHER INFO
posted 06/14/2006

Drop-off and Pick-up at the Boathouse:  When you drop off and pick up rowers for practice, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you DO NOT drive down Goldstein Place or to the boathouse itself.  Please drop rowers on the corner of the Oceanview Diner and pick up there as well.  The boatyard is very busy this time of year, and a dangerous place for added traffic.

Please bring non-disposable water bottles to practice:  In the interest of the environment, the coaches ask that rowers not bring disposable bottles of water, gatorade, etc.  Reusable bottles such as nalgene only, please!

For changes or updates on practice days due to weather, etc. please check this website.  NC Crew policy is "No School; No Practice" and no bus transportation on those days.

If a rower is suddenly unable to attend a practice, call the Coach directly before 2:00pm at the Boathouse at (203)854-5492 and leave a message for his/her coach.

If you are interested in additional recreational rowing programs or a program that would better suit your needs please contact Yan or Olga Vengerovskiy at Maritime Rowing Club (203)854-5492
